Dangerous Green Bay Drivers Don’t Care About Roadside Ducks

Everyday, I’m out on the streets of Green Bay running errands and trying to live out a satisfying life in this lovely community. I don’t have a car. I depend on public transportation and I walk.

This time of the year, I have some company. I’m talking about all of the ducks near the river. They’re families, complete with ducklings marching in an orderly line throughout the area.

Including Broadway, where you’ll spot them almost every morning.

Sadly, I’ve seen a couple of dead ducks on the roadside already. And that’s completely unacceptable.

And it’s the fault of bad drivers. Dangerous drivers.

Here is the “meat” of this post.

These dangerous drivers that are blatant enough to kill these birds are the same kinds of dangerous drivers that will almost hit me at a marked and lit crosswalk. They’re the same kind of drivers that will brush back bike riders who are in their bike lanes. They’re the kind of drivers who will speed through the same streets our kids are playing on.

And it’s all so avoidable. This is because of the many good drivers that live in our community. We should encourage and promote a culture of safe driving in the area. We need these good drivers to lift up the reckless operators behind the wheel before more birds get killed. Or even worse, a pedestrian heading to work or a kid coming home from school gets hurt or worse.

If these dangerous drivers don’t improve then we should work with law enforcement to urge education and improvement.

You see, a bad driver will kill whatever is in front of its car. Sadly it’s recently been these ducks. And we should do what we can to reverse this disturbing trend.
