Only Brown County Taxpayers Lose In Denial Of More Judges by State Legislature

When a bipartisan group of state lawmakers come together to ask the legislature for more judges and support for a county court system, you would think these requests would be taken seriously. And not as ineffective noise as the judicial can gets kicked down the road once more.

Yet, here we are. Brown County taxpayers will once again subsidize the lifestyle of criminals for insane amounts of time as a recent request by local lawmakers was denied in Madison (story HERE).

The request didn’t even make it out of committee. Instead we got excuses.

And what makes these denials by state lawmakers even more disappointing is that they have no idea of the conditions behind the request.

Of course, there are those behind bars, but when your court system gets backlogged many more people suffer.

Corrections officers get even more overworked and eventually quit because of burnout.

The suspects who might actually be found innocent, are spending more time away from their families and are further delayed in rebuilding their lives.

And of course, there are the victims of these crimes. Their suffering continues without closure. They have continue trying to recover from the harm done to them and they too remain stuck in this dark chapter of their lives.

This is all brought to you by a collective of politicians a couple of hours away.

There is supposed to be a call to action here. But when all of your local lawmakers support the initiative that was denied, then the action goes to recruit your neighbors and to raise awareness of the folly made in the state legislature.

Keep making noise. Keep explaining how this is hurting everyone in Brown County. And keep pushing for coalition building to compel a different outcome next time.
