Threats Against Tony Wied Are Beneath The People Of Northeast Wisconsin
Do you want to know how to separate the good people in American politics from the bad? It’s not by political party. The last 15 years in this process has taught me that.
It’s identifying who are the elected officials, political operatives, and dedicated volunteers that understand where the lines of decency are. The truth is that regardless of which side you’re on, you should be able to communicate with anyone without resorting to violence.
Frankly, those who don’t know this or are incapable of behaving this way are amateurs. And possibly mentally ill if they’re willing to harm another person over their objections.
Which is why everyone in Northeast Wisconsin should be condemning the the threats made against Congressman Tony Wied (story HERE).
It’s beneath me. It’s beneath you. It’s beneath everyone who calls Northeast Wisconsin home.
Now sadly, political violence has become more frequent. Look no further than the tragic attacks against Minnesota lawmakers that took place earlier this summer (story HERE). This is very dangerous behavior.
We must strongly and loudly condemn these threats and remove the elements responsible. Full stop. If you’re not, you’re clearing the runway for this kind of political violence.
If you go online, you’ll see people defending these threats because they don’t like Tony Wied’s politics.
Morons. And they also don’t understand how real political battles are fought.
They’re fought by learning the issues. They’re fought by volunteering on political campaigns. They’re fought by knocking on doors and talking to voters.
And how we all grow as better engaged Americans is by listening and resolving our differences peacefully.
Reject the violent nonsense. And choose to grow as an engaged neighbor instead. I promise you, you’ll be much happier when you go to bed at night.
