We Despise The Idea of ESPN Changing NFL RedZone
ESPN is great. NFL Redzone is great.
But they don’t need to be anywhere near each other. It’s like taking a juicy ribeye steak and then dumping a hot fudge sundae on top of it. Separately, and even in succession, they make for an excellent experience, but together they sound absolutely dreadful.
Yet, it appears that ESPN is going to takeover and possibly ruin what is already a pristine experience with NFL RedZone (story HERE).
RedZone is the church. ESPN is the club.
When we watch NFL RedZone, we enjoy that pure experience of sprinting game to game seamlessly and if you’re a Fantasy Football player, its even better as you can catch almost every important score from your team. We’re not listening to the outside noise. Just wonderful NFL football. I love it. It’s an almost perfect television product that should be commended for it’s consistency.
When we watch ESPN, its all noise. That’s not a bad thing. I enjoy most of the ESPN personalities and especially their NFL analysts. But I don’t want them pulling my eyes and ears away from the action. I’m not in that gear. You can give me that noise before the noon kick and all day on Monday. But please leave me alone when I’m in church.
What I’m also worried about is the cost to the NFL consumer. ESPN is Disney and Mickey Mouse wants his money. And he can try to make you reciprocate his attempts to offer you more bells and whistles you didn’t ask for in an attempt to raise revenue.
This is a deal where the viewers lose. The only direction to go is down when you already had such a great product as NFL RedZone
