Wednesday: Five Things I Enjoyed About S2 Part One, And Two I Didn’t

The first half of the second season of Wednesday dropped this week, and for the most part it manages to keep up that not-so-scary, super weird fun, that we enjoyed from the first season. If somehow this show has left you behind, I can still recommend it.

Here are five things I enjoyed from the first half of the second season of Wednesday…

Enjoyed:

The cliffhanger: The show has been more violent this time around and Wednesday got thrown out of a freaking window by the Hyde. This show allows her to get away with a lot. Not this time. But it’s exciting and sets up some fun for the second half if you stuck around and watched the second half teaser.

The Wednesday vs. Morticia beef: I’m happy Catherine Zeta Jones is getting more to do this year. And her feud with her daughter has been my favorite part of the second season so far. I’m so happy she won the duel. I think Wednesday defeating her mom should be a big deal saved for a special occasion.

The campground race sequence: The show always burns the edges of Harry Potter Hogwarts sentiment but it maintains it’s identity. This entire race was cool, and that finish with Wednesday rappelling was done very nicely.

Enid and Thing drama: The two most likable characters on the show are off to a great second season. And being comfortable enough with the former to see her interact with the latter is a demonstration of depth that the show doesn’t have to drown when Jenna Ortega isn’t on screen (and it sometimes does).

The wardrobe: I’m not a costumes guy. But the effort here can’t be ignored. Everybody looks cool. Some of Wednesdays stuff looks semi John Wick but not disconnected from the Addams Family world.

Didn’t enjoy:

How Bianca is being used: Siren calling Morticia and Pugsley is dirty and should eventually be addressed. That is some villain stuff. Even under the circumstances. We can find a better angle for her.

Slurp: Hiding a zombie is boring, dumb, and we’ve seen it before. What are we investing in?

Overall, I’m still having a good time. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
