Leicht Park Improvements Are Cause For Excitement For Green Bay Residents

Leicht Park is a great park off of Green Bay’s riverfront that plenty of residents already take advantage of. There are concerts, public gatherings, and a variety of things to do in the space that sits right next to downtown and a constantly improving Broadway district. This isn’t a commercial. I could point it all out to you on a sunny Saturday afternoon and everything would be visible.

And we got some great news on Tuesday with the announcement of an improvement project that will include stages, a multi purpose pavilion, new general facilities, and what will certainly be a crowd pleaser, an overlook deck (story HERE).

One of the most popular public spaces back in my hometown of Orlando is Lake Eola Park, which includes the Walt Disney Amphitheater. It’s a rally point for the community.

If done correctly, I think this could be even better.

Now, let’s pump the brakes on the hype train here. This is going to cost $7 million dollars and you know how construction costs are. That price tag is probably going to go up. The construction will be done in phases. And I’ve seen projects with high hopes get stuck in fundraising limbo for very long periods of time.

But I have to tell you, if I wasn’t a struggling veteran, and if I had the coin to invest in a public project and throw my name on a building or a bench, I would want to be immortalized on this project. And potential commercial partners should have sharp elbows here.

Because Leicht Memorial Park is already a good park. And after this project is done, its going to be sensational and a popular destination to come for the foreseeable future.
