Twisted Metal has just done a spectacular developing these supporting characters to surround John and Quiet in their sophomore season. Almost too great. We’re getting attached to all of them. That prom episode is proof.

This includes Axel (played wonderfully by Michael James Shaw), who got some flashbacks from his hitman days in Louisiana, where he spares the life of a baby girl and goes on the run with her. At the prom he spots Mayhem (Saylor Curda is a must follow on Tik Tok) sporting a hair tie made from the same print of the blanket used by the baby he bonded with before losing her in the raid.

The show hints that Mayhem is Axel’s lost baby.

Now, this obviously presents a big problem because they’re both in the contest. And they’ve got to kill each other.

Interestingly enough, in the video game, Mayhem is actually Calypso’s daughter in what is one of the more powerful endings in the mythology.

While this is wonderful drama, it puts the show in a tough position where viewers are just about rooting for everybody at this point, and all of the deaths from here on out will hurt.

This could also feed fuel (I see you Axel) to the fire of the theory where everyone could eventually get their wish. As hard as that would be to write.

To close, video game fans know winning the tournament isn’t always a good thing. Calypso is known for a “deal with the devil” reward where the wishes are rewarded with an evil twist.
