Dancing With The Stars S34: How Two Pro Fan Favorites Got Sent Home First
Dancing With The Stars delivered a banger last night in the second week of season 34 with a “One Hit Wonder” themed night, that saw to stars go home on a double elimination second show.
But also celebrated professionals, defending champion Jenna Johnson and Britt Stewart.
Regular viewers of DWTS understand that stars come and go. But after you learn the pros and follow them on social media, you really enjoy watching them work.
Fans were shocked to see Johnson and Stewart leave so soon.
Here is how it happened:
Corey Feldman regressed: It never felt like he was “locked in” and while he had flashes of potential, he never caught on with audiences. The 80s were a while back, and I don’t think his audience is a big enough part of the pie here. Johnson couldn’t take him further. After going all the way last year, at least she can rest up and do some other stuff.
Baron Davis was an easy lateral elimination: Despite being a remarkable athlete he never had the energy. Davis is also a broadcaster, and working in the adjacent industry made this an easy booking. And easy elimination. Britt fans are frustrated because its another short campaign for her. They’re calling for a ringer for her next season.
The Andy Richter charm offensive: A lot of fans gave their votes to Richter after his appeal during the post dance interview. They expected Feldman and Davis to survive with Jenna and Britt without their support. They did not.
The female stars are MUCH more valuable than the men this season: From a showrunner perspective, I’d be happy. ABC needs their “Mormon Wives” farm system (which also includes the next Bachelorette) to win over fans. Alix Earle also brings a big organic audience with her. Hilaria has Alec Baldwin. Jordan Chiles is a terrific ambassador.
Look at these dudes. Not so much.
