Two Guns At Oshkosh Pub Crawl Should Be An Alarm For The Community

Listen, I’m a pub crawler from way back. When done properly and safely, they can spur some great business for several bars and restaurants in a town in one night. Especially in a fine town like Oshkosh.

The problem with the Oshkosh pub crawl over the past weekend, was that law enforcement discovered at least two individuals with guns. One of them was a minor. And the crawl took place around UW Oshkosh.

Oshkosh residents should take such news seriously. And the need to be on alert.

One problem is that Oshkosh has seen its problems recently with crime. Including the theft of firearms from unlocked vehicles (story HERE).

And another is the possession of a firearm in the hands of a minor. That brings the attention back here to Green Bay, where we’ve got leaders looking for answers after a kid brought a gun to school (story HERE).

What we saw on Saturday was a very bad combination. Alcohol and guns. Enjoyed separately and responsibility, they represent both a part of forming camaraderie in Wisconsin, and an important part of our constitutional rights as Americans.

But they should never be in the same room with each other. Let alone a pub crawl with thousands of people on the street.

“Get to the point, Frank”

My point is to stay vigilant and maintain a good relationship with community leaders and law enforcement.

You have some potentially violent people teetering on the edge of causing a tragedy. We have to stop that tragedy before it happens.

Keep having safe parties and gatherings. But always keep an eye out for those who would mean harm to others, and tell the cops if you see them.
