Ashwaubenon “Camping” Ordinance Will Hurt Homeless Veterans
The Village Of Ashwaubenon is poised to past the most despicable ordinance of 2025, in a “camping” restriction which is really about harassing the most vulnerable members of our community. Our homeless population.
And an important part of that population are our homeless veterans.
All Ashwaubenon leaders should be ashamed of themselves for throwing our homeless veterans out of their community. Apparently, they’re good enough to fight for their freedom overseas, but not good enough to rest within their boundaries.
And the fact that Ashwaubenon does so little in the fight against homelessness when compared to the other municipalities in neighboring areas, further illustrates how selfish they are with this vanity ordinance.
It also sends a message to our homeless veterans that Ashwaubenon doesn’t care about their sacrifices.
As a housing challenged veteran myself, I understand how much damage a decision like this from a community to do to one’s confidence. We go from being in the best shape of our life and protecting the United States all around the world, to being banned in places like Ashwaubenon.
It does a terrible toll on an individual.
Ordinances like this fake camping ordinance that Ashwaubenon is poised to pass is a contributing factor to veterans suicide.
This is because when we read that we’re not wanted in a place like Ashwaubenon, we begin to wonder why we should even continue to exist.
Ashwaubenon leaders don’t understand that. They’re too blinded by their own desire to manicure a community that is more concerned with desires of a a spoiled few, than the men and women that defended this country when they wouldn’t.
The Village Of Ashwaubenon deserves to be recognized for their poor treatment of Wisconsin veterans.
