Green Bay Needs Tough Sex Offender Residency Reform

When the City Of Green Bay announces the agenda for the Sex Offender Residency Board on social media, the public’s reaction is natural.

“Stop releasing them in Green Bay!”

The response is natural. Why would anyone want a predator who targets the weakest among us in their neighborhoods? To any adult in their right mind, its an unspeakable act that can destroy an innocent soul, and scar them for life.

This is why we need sex offender ordinance reform in Green Bay.

Right now, we have a proximity ordinance. This keeps the predators away from schools and public areas where children may be present. This is a regular practice conducted in communities all over the United States.

But here in Green Bay, we’ve created an express lane for sex offenders to live anywhere they want. They know this. And they’re taking advantage of it.

The Sex Offender Board here in Green Bay isn’t hard enough on these criminals, and when they move in to our buildings and invade our neighborhoods they often commit other crimes.

And they do so with boldness and a sense of vindication. After all, they’ve just been granted the satisfaction of approval from a government board that has created an illusion for them that they’re a good person.

All of this comes from being effected myself. There is a sex offender in my area right now after the board gave them a pass. They deal drugs. They commit other crimes. They harass the neighbors.

Green Bay Police has listened. They always do. But they have to enforce with the rules their given.

And those rules are weak. And they will continue to hurt our community until they’re fixed.

We must act before someone else gets hurt.

This post is a call for help. I have a dangerous sex offender near me. And I am worried for my safety. The current ordinance limits what our elected leaders and law enforcement can do. Change is needed.
