As I type these words, the world is staring at Ashwaubenon.

That’s right. Our little village right next door to Green Bay. Them.

This is because of the actions of a Cinnabon employee to a Somali couple, who somehow got in a situation at her now former employer, which escalated her temper to the point of obscenity and profanity. (story HERE).

And because of its unique standing as the headquarters of pastry chefs with anger management issues, the Village Of Ashwaubenon is having its name dragged through the mud on a global scale.

So, let me be the first to step up and tell you that Ashwaubenon, for all of its poor leadership and cruel ideas, is not represented by this lady.

In fact, the people of Ashwaubenon, as well as almost everybody who isn’t boxing a cinnamon roll in Northeast Wisconsin, is kind and very patient. That’s why I made this region my home.

Now, if you want a happy ending to this post, you can click elsewhere because there is some hard Ashwaubenon truth coming. Because there are plenty of problems here.

The Bay Park Square Mall is a training ground for crime, with retail theft out of control, and drugs being consumed and sold all over the place. It’s a very poorly managed facility and no one wants to admit there is a problem. This also hurts Green Bay.

It’s not very safe. You can’t cross the street here. I wrote about this as recently as yesterday. (story HERE)

And the Village Of Ashwaubenon tried to pass an ordinance which designated homeless veterans as a nuisance. (story HERE)

But for all of the village’s bad decisions, there are many more good people living here. That is where my hope lies.

As well as purchasing my cinnamon rolls at Hy-Vee next door from now on.
