Why We Shouldn’t Worry About Green Bay Public Market 2027 Delays
Do you want to know a secret that almost anyone involved with local government beyond trolling on social media knows?
Construction projects get delayed. A lot.
In fact, its more unusual to see an elaborate construction project get completed on time. And a completed project seldom resembles the original concept that makes it pass a local council or commission.
This is why I’m not worried about the further delays of the Green Bay Public Market. The latest timeline could push it well into 2027 (story HERE).
Perhaps, this is because my former hometown is Orlando. Well there are dozens of “public market” projects that are delayed for various reasons, stemming from construction costs to the availability of building materials.
We had a VA hospital delayed for years.
We had a half completed performing arts center long after it was expected to be completed.
And of course, there is the Majesty Building (Google it). A project that once had high hopes and has now sat dormant for decades.
The point I’m trying to make is these things happen.
And the only people that have a problem with these delays are the ones who don’t understand how the process works. Mostly, previously mentioned social media contrarians.
The truth is that Broadway is still going to be the most exciting area in Green Bay for the next couple of years. The Shipyard and new fire station have a lot of potential. And of course, it’s going to tie-into the Leicht Park project, which is going to be a win for everyone.
It’s just going to take some time.
