It’s Probably For The Best “Buffy” Reboot Won’t Move Forward

Hulu has decided not to move forward with the highly anticipated Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot. Sarah Michelle Gellar herself broke the news on Instagram this morning (story HERE).

While I’m definitely sad that I won’t be able to revisit Sunnydale for the chance to relive the glory days with one of my favorite television heroes, it’s almost a relief that its not going forward.

This is because to me, Buffy The Vampire Slayer was just great the way it was. From beginning to end. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but upon rewatch, even the episodes and creative decisions that weren’t popular at the time are still fascinating to this day.

I’ve also got to tell you that I’m not the biggest Chloe Zhao fan.

Hey, of course she can give me the finger and point to her Oscar (possibly two by the time you read this). But her eye has never been the best when it comes to a mainstream audience that wants to have fun.

I’ll present to you, “The Eternals” one of the worst Marvel movies ever.

And I was a little worried she’d “Eternal” Buffy.

This is because Chloe doesn’t know how to tell a story that allows her audience to have fun.

Anyways, everything happens for a reason. As the article mentions, the Buffy IP is still something that if channeled the right way can make a lot of people happy. She is in the business of misery, like our friends at Paramore.

Just like it made a generation of TV viewers happy almost 30 years ago.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
