The Bachelorette: Four Big Questions After Taylor Frankie Paul Season Cancellation
The reality TV world is currently reeling after it was announced that ABC and Disney has cancelled the Taylor Frankie Paul season of The Bachelorette, after an old video of domestic abuse surfaced (story HERE). The seasons was set to premiere in three days.
This has viewers asking a lot of questions. I know I certainly have a few. Here are just four of them…
Why didn’t Disney and ABC discover this sooner?: You have to question why the mouse didn’t find out that the possibility of a video like this might be out there sooner. It was obviously a dump, but whether it was an omission by TFP or something else, it should have been caught before production even began.
Do they cancel Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives too?: The Hulu reality TV show is a success, and it pushed over to Dancing with the Stars with successful efforts by Whitney Leavitt and Jenn Affleck. So, does Disney take a scalpel to the latest season and cut out TFP? Or do they call off that season too?
After Mel Owens and Jenn Tran, is the Bachelornation formula broken?: Mel Owens insulted senior women before his season began, and that led to a boycott from me and many others. The Jenn Trann finale felt more like a punishment for Tran than a celebration. We also get nothing but influencers on the show these days. Do we need to tear this whole thing down?
What does ABC do now to avoid a ratings plunge?: It can’t be understated how much this is going to hurt ABC. The Bachelorette not only draws important, and consumer decision making eyeballs, but it trends on socials every time its on. How does ABC fix this black hole in its programming?
What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
