The Bachelorette: Just Air The Taylor Frankie Paul Season Anyways

As reality TV continues to experience the aftershocks of the cancelled Taylor Frankie Paul season of The Bachelorette, its become apparent to me that ABC/Disney should do something we’ll be talking about for years.

They should air it.

At this point, it could minimize the damage: Let’s be real. We’re not going to stop talking about this until the next season of The Bachelor or Bachelorette starts. Airing the season would be a pre-emptive strike on normalizing these unusual circumstances.

Turn it into an apology tour: I’m not by any means giving TFP a pass here. ABC/Disney should have her own her mistakes and come forward with the fact that she has a problem. She shouldn’t own all of it. While her management as been tone deaf with their third person statements, she should get a chance to explain what happened. Do “The Final Rose” episode in an empty studio with just TFP and Jesse.

It’s better than the alternative: Let’s be real. We don’t want to watch American Idol reruns or bad gameshows for the next three months.

It will make for compelling television: Let’s be real. Bachelornation would have this show trending each week by Monday morning quarterbacking the entire thing. You can read the tweets already “Oh, there is a warning sign there!” and “I can’t believe these guys didn’t see this coming”.

ABC/Disney needs a win: Last weekend, they killed the Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot. This week, they killed The Bachelorette. The alphabet doesn’t have anything for us to look forward to. And they would save $30 million in doing so (story HERE).

Just air the thing. It can’t get any worse.
