Why You Should Skip WrestleMania 42 This Year And How It Helps Wrestling
This year I’m not going to be watching Wrestlemania 42.
It’s true. The product is just so bad this year, that I’m going to dedicate my eyeballs somewhere else, because I know I’ll ultimately be much happier than I would if I consumed the slop that’s on the menu in Las Vegas this weekend.
And you should too. Here is why.
The ESPN Price Hike: Its going to cost you more money to watch Wrestlemania this year because of WWE moving to the ESPN streamer. For many of you it will be double what you paid last year. And don’t think for a second that the increases are finished. It won’t be long before ESPN comes asking for even more money.
Pat McAfee, Logan Paul, and Tony Hinchcliffe: ESPN decided to make one of their guys the focal point of Wrestlemania this year and that’s wrong. McAfee has ruined the Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes feud. Logan Paul keeps elbowing his way on to our televisions to feed his own ego. And perhaps most unforgivable offense, WWE and Netflix continues to pay Tony Hinchcliffe money. This is the man who called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage”. His presence is a slap in the face to Puerto Rican fans and WWE’s history with the island.
The Only Way To Encourage Change And Make Wrestling Better: Make no mistake. WWE will declare victory this Wrestlemania no matter how bad it is. And they’ll keep giving us things we don’t want. And I’m talking about events in Saudi Arabia where our own neighborhoods won’t be able to benefit. They won’t change unless we change the channel.
The genesis of Wrestlemania 42 is unfortunate. The WWE leadership, and their partners at Disney and Netflix got greedy.
And that means having to pay more of our money for a product that will only make them happy at the end of the weekend.
