ESPN First Take: Stephen A. approves of possible LBJ, Anthony Davis trade out of LA, “This is the Titanic”
As the Los Angeles Lakers continue their early season struggles with a 2-8 record, ESPN host and NBA Analyst, Stephen A. Smith supported the possibility of the storied franchise trading it’s two top stars in LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
“What I’m saying to you is this. The Lakers ain’t going nowhere” began Smith “I would get a bunch of young thoroughbreds. Some picks. And I would move forward that way. Because this is a sinking ship. It’s not going to elevate. It’s the Titanic”
Several analysts on multiple sports networks have supported the Lakers “blowing it up” and starting over. The team could still claim a victory with the James and the Lakers winning the 2020 NBA championship inside of the bubble in Orlando.
Both Keyshawn Johnson and Tim Legler agreed with Smith, but shared concerns over how a deal could actually get done given the high price both players command.
