Interview with a Vampire turns 30, and you can stream it on Max now

It’s the 30th anniversary of Interview with a Vampire, and it’s hard to believe that so much time has passed when we sat down in theaters, anxious to see the Tom Cruise, the box office titan, trade lines and with the Brad Pitt, the young star who was one of the most under demand promising talents of the time.

And while both of them were legendary and still doing epic work to this day, they almost get outshined by Kirsten Dunst in her star making turn.

The film is available on Max at the time of publishing, and the Anne Rice story of Lestat and Louis still hits the right note to this day.

We get Louis (Pitt), who has lost everything and awaits death by almost any means, before he is introduced to the blessing (or damnation) of eternal life, by the vampire Lestat. Together, they travel the globe navigating the complications of surviving as creatures of the night. Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas, both also still rocking it in 2024, also star.

The price of admission ($6.50 evening, $5 matinee) back in 94′ is paid back by getting to watch Pitt and Cruise fence for much of the film. Y’all have got to remember, this was the first decent look a lot of us got at a villainous Tom Cruise, and boy did he nail it in this awesome film.

If Interview with a Vampire has somehow escaped you for the last three decades, I’ll spare you too much insight into Dunst’s role. She does hold her own with the scenes she’s got with Pitt and Cruise.

There isn’t much of a downside, even all of these years later. If you’re a loyal Anne Rice reader, you might see the small differences but for regular Pitt/Cruise/Dunst fans, it’s a wonderful movie.

Happy Anniversary indeed.
