NFL: Rebooting Aaron Rodgers and Devante Adams in New York won’t win a Super Bowl

The New York Jets continued their tumultuous October this week, after dropping a heartbreaking game to their rival Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. This days, after firing their head coach Robert Saleh with no indication that his job was in jeopardy.

So, what did they do? They signed (or rescued) Devante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, reuniting him with Aaron Rodges and Allen Lazard, in a Green Bay Packers reboot in the Big Apple.

This blog is published in Green Bay. We have product knowledge and I’ll tell you this.

Bringing the pandemic era Packers to the New York Jets won’t win them a Super Bowl.

Oh, it’s not that I don’t think Adams will do well in New York. Lazard has made some big catches (including that hail mary last night) when it’s mattered this season.

But the warped reality that distorts the view of Rodgers and the Jets front office almost ensures dysfunction. It feels like there is some toxicity there.

The same kind of toxicity that fueled Rodgers after the Packers drafted Jordan Love. Oh, you’ll recall he only went on an MVP run afterwards.

Still, they didn’t win a Super Bowl. With Adams. With Lazard. And he was a few years younger back then. He got frustrated and it felt like being trapped in a bad marriage.

There is always this fog of distrust that follows Rodgers and the Jets when things aren’t going well. It feels like there are back channel conversations of the blame game taking place, instead of constructing a strategy to give this long suffering franchise a Super Bowl title.

Adams won’t fix that.

But at least he’s out of Las Vegas. And Rodgers has another comfort receiver from Title Town.

It’s happiness but only temporary.
