Intro: We’re mono red. We love our goblins. They’re our ride or dies.
And perhaps the best thing about these dudes are their versatility. These guys can be found everywhere, doing every ridiculous thing possible to help you win the game. And today we’re going to talk about Grotag Night-Runner someone who helps us with a mono red flaw. Card Draw.
What the card actually says:
Whenever Grotag Night-Runner deals combat damage to a player, exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn.
Naturally inquisitive and adaptable, goblins can turn their small stature to their advantage as rogues
Analysis: So, for three mana you get a tough little guy that will help you draw cards after they land an attack. All of that goes without saying, but Grotag Night-Runner’s card draw can make a big difference, especially in the middle of the game, where our cheap stuff is already on the board and the blue and green nerds are trying to deploy their win cons. That card draw can give you even more burn or back up for Grotag that can also ensure you stay busy, and if you’re running short on lands, then it could also keep you in the game.
Conclusion: Grotag Night-Runner may not be a mono red staple, but if you’re running a goblin deck, then you’re going to want a creature that will help you draw cards. And given the built in synergy of goblins working together, it could set things off very nicely.
