“Complete The Mission Act” should be top priority for veterans health care
The “Complete The Mission Act”, legislation sponsored this week in Washington, would great increase the health care options available for veterans in the private sector, as our numbers only continue to grow and more service members seek treatment (story HERE).
This legislation would open up possibilities for community care that vets in rural areas could depend on. Right now, we’ve got elderly veterans that can’t make the long drives to the urban core for appointments, and not only have to determine the logistics for transportation, but have to wait long periods of time to see a health care provider about their illnesses.
These options also involve the realm of mental health, where we’ve seen tragedies occur because we haven’t been able to get to our suffering veterans in time.
For those who may stumble across this post while researching the legislation, I can tell you that more options will help veterans. And the VA continues to be difficult to navigate for veterans that need help. It’s a giant monolith that holds all of the medical power, and is so difficult to work with, that there are many veterans who will give up and suffer in silence.
The “Complete the Mission” Act would be a step away from the bureaucratic gridlock which has hindered us for years, and allow us to venture out and explore options that will make it easier for us to use the benefits that we’ve earned for our service.
Go into any veteran heavy community, and you’ll hear problems of having to work with the VA. It’s about time we did our best to start fighting those problems.
Call your members of Congress and tell them to support the “Complete The Mission” act today.
