Nasty Partisan Website Attacking Tony Wied on Town Halls makes no sense

When I saw that a mud slinging web site had been stood up against first term Green Bay Congressman Tony Wied, I had to roll my eyes (story HERE).

This is one of the oldest, dirty tricks you can pull on a lawmaker who just arrived in Washington, on the heels of a new administration in the White House.

The website attacks Tony Wied for not hosting a town hall. And attempts to justify these partisan attacks are, you guessed it, more partisan attacks.

I’ve been doing this a long time. Let me tell you the truth.

Truth #1: Tony Wied communicates with his constituents everyday on social media, earned local media, and yes, his legitimate government website.

Truth #2: Tony Wied will host events when the new administration is settled, and there is certainty and news to report back to his constituents with (and also when his constituents won’t have to traverse icy roads in sub zero temperatures). We’re still confirming cabinet members, for goodness sake.

Truth 3: When Tony Wied is hosting that town hall, the same bored and defeated critics who stood up this website will try to disrupt it and make a scene. They’ll scream, bang drums, and do anything they can to distort what he’s saying.

And this is what these attacks are all about. Them. Not You.

Because they don’t respect your vote. They don’t want the representative you elected to succeed even, in the slightest way possible. Because it means that their friends can’t move up. It won’t result in opportunities for them.

You know, I didn’t support Tony Wied in the primary. You know what I did after he won?

I watched his committee hearings. I read his email newsletter (which we should all be subscribed to). I read the legislation he was supporting. He’s gotten started on some good things.

I didn’t use my platform to attack him because my feelings were hurt.

Reject the partisan attacks that are only trying to manipulate you. Do some research and come up with your own conclusions.
