Million Dollar Secret: Netflix has found it’s “Traitors” clone
Hey, when you see a formula working somewhere else, you try to emulate it. Right?
That’s what Netflix is trying to do with it’s newest reality competition show “Million Dollar Secret” which is a very similar take of “The Traitors” which is currently doing very well on Peacock.

In “Million Dollar Secret” contestants are invited to a swanky lodge, where one of them is named the secret millionaire by finding a box full of money in their hotel room. That person must conceal their identity to the rest of the cast, while also navigating challenges, and playing the social game strong enough to avoid the dinner time elimination.
The first few episodes are available now. And the similarities to it’s streaming rival are unavoidable.
But it’s not that easy.
If there is one thing The Traitors has going for it, it’s that it has host Alan Cumming, who has the swag of half a dozen other reality television hosts put together.
And The Traitors has also been able to lure reality TV stars from other franchises on to their show, and those stars do have their own fan bases who are very active on social media.
While Million Dollar Secret will have to endure these Traitors comparisons, it will have the inevitable boost from that franchise’s stray fans, who just watched their show end their most recent season. Something needs to fill that void.
And you’d better believe that if ‘Secret” finds an audience on Netflix, which is possible because their viewership is so much larger than Peacock, you may also see more knock offs on other streamers too.
What do you think? Is Million Dollar Secret a rip on The Traitors? Let me know in the comments.
