The Four Seasons: S1E2 Garden Party Recap
Second episode of The Four Seasons, if you’re looking for a recap of the premiere you can find it HERE! The first episode was just okay, but closed on an interesting note. Let’s see where the sophomore effort takes us.
What Happened?: We catch up with the group as Anne continues setting up the vow renewal ceremony, unaware that Nick wants to leave her. Kate decides to warn Nick before he comes back from his long errand. Danny tells Kate that he’s pushing back his surgery and sidestepping Claude about it. Kate and Danny do decide to tell Claude about the potential split but he waves it off and wants to see action first. We also learn that in a moment of cowardice, Jack pawned off telling Anne the truth to Kate, which doesn’t go over very well with his wife. After trading some words in the pottery barn, Danny tells Claude he’s going to get the surgery. And when Kate attempts to tell Anne what Nick is thinking, they’re interrupted by his return but not before she tells Kate how Nick always goes back to what he knows best. When the ceremony does take place, Nick’s vows are interrupted by the kiln exploding in the pottery shack as the credits pop.
Quotes:
Danny to Jack: “How can you be less chill in your fifties than you were in your twenties?”
Danny: “Vow renewals are dumb and tacky but they’re not real.”
Defensive Jack to Kate: “I’m sorry I have big feelings. I actually didn’t know until you said it like that.”
(Watching Kate struggle with a table)
Claude: “Do you need help?
Kate: “Yes, that would be great”
Claude: “Make sure you lift with your knees”
(About his surgery)
Danny: “They jam a balloon in your groin, Katherine. It’s a balloon.”
Kate: “But you’re going to let them jam it. Right?”
Danny: “B*** will you let me eat my sandwich?!”
Trivia and Tie-Ins:
Anne’s drawing of her wedding platter looks like a tombstone of her marriage.
I think I’ve seen the old lady in the wheel chair in an Alzheimer’s pharmaceutical commercial. I can’t be sure though.
Great seeing the legendary Alan Alda as Anne’s dad. MASH should still be watched to this day.
We here the term “Triple Pisces” if you were born between February 19th and March 20th, you’d fit here.
