The Four Seasons: S1E5 Family Weekend Recap
It is now fall as The Four Seasons continues and we proceed with the journey of this group of friends. If you’d like a recap of episode four, you can read that HERE.
What Happened?: The show starts with everyone arriving at a rustic inn, near where Jack and Kate went to school. Ginny is still with Nick, but Anne checked in first and stole their room. The group is actually visiting their kids Bethie and Lila at college. During the first huddle, we get an uncomfortable meeting between Anne and Ginny.
The group starts to catch up, we learn that Claude still hasn’t finished Jack’s Napoleon group. Claude does confide in Jack that he’s been “hanging on by a thread” while being away from Danny. Jack tells him to be upfront but Claude believes good treatment will make Danny happier.
After a muddled afternoon the group goes to Lila’s play only to discover it’s an assault on Nick and Ginny’s relationship, and she destroys a bookshelf her father bought for her earlier that day. Also, in the play Ginny is played by an inflatable doll. Anne and Lila both defend the play to Nick after it’s conclusion.
Later in the evening, Kate and Jack go for a sentimental walk around town, while Danny and Claude invite a lumberjack back to their room, where Claude discovers cigarettes in Danny’s bag. They begin to fight as Claude throws Danny and the lumberjack’s close out the window, and the credits roll.
Quotes:
(Catching up with Nick)
Jack: We’re doing ‘dry fall’
Kate: Which means no baths.
(When asked about liking playwriting or acting better)
Lila: Acting is more of a surface pleasure. Like a cl*****l orgasm. The writing is more g spot.
(To Jack)
Kate: “How am I supposed to know ‘I have a sour stomach’ is code for I wanna make out?”
(by the actors playing Nick in Lila’s play)
Fake Nick: “The p***s wants what it wants.”
Play character: “By 2075 marriage will be illegal and vibra**** will be sold at McDonalds”
(To Danny, who keeps treating himself poorly after heart surgery)
Claude: “You have cigarettes? Why do you want to die?”
Lumberjack: “Look I’m here for the ‘open’ part, not the ‘marriage’ part.”
Trivia and Tie-ins:
Nick has ditched his vintage red BMW for a grey Porsche coupe during the cold opens.
