What the majority of NFL Fans are missing about the “Tush Push” vote

The Tush Push will remain a legal play in the NFL. The final count of the vote was 22-10. This blog is published in Green Bay and my background is in politics. I get it. We regroup and we try again.

But as you look at the reaction around the league on social media, a lot of casual NFL fans are missing an important point.

The vote was not won because the requirement was not a straight up majority. You needed 75% of the vote.

If the decision was made on what most NFL teams actually want, then the Tush Push would be illegal right now.

As I tag in my political background again, I can tell you that getting that high of a majority in any environment is difficult. Many of the teams that supported keeping the Tush Push don’t play the Eagles next year. Or they identified another strategical advantage in allowing Philadelphia to keep running the play that would ultimately benefit them.

And if there are any fans that would try to list this as a mandate of what the league and its fans actually want, they would be inaccurate in that regard.

But hey. It passed anyways. Everyone will still get ready for next year and the game goes on.

To all of those who are disappointed with today’s votes, I urge you to keep the receipts of those non Eagles fans who allows this play to stay alive. It will certainly come back to hurt them at some point.

And we’re going to need those receipts when the next vote happens and we finally eliminate this illegal tactic.
