Green Bay Community Must Reject Violent Piano Trashing Behavior
Northeast Wisconsin is home to some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. That’s why I decided to live here a few years back.
Unfortunately, like all other communities, there are some real jerks that call this area home as well.
I’m including the losers who trashed the Tank Park Piano over the Fourth Of July holiday weekend (story HERE). This piano was a donation from a local organization to bring music to the different communities here in Green Bay.
It may have been kids. It may have been adults. Either way, our neighbors need to take a stand to preserve these acts of good will that make a positive impact on our communities. These are violent acts that may have involved a piano this time, but could include people getting hurt the next time.
Many of you know that I’ve held a couple of security positions in this town. Vandalism is an issue, including the recent graffiti problems in De Pere (story HERE). The solutions remain the same.
If its children, then parents need to be held accountable. Many juveniles understand that they’re untouchable because they are not old enough to get in trouble. Bad parents get defensive when questioned, but we can’t push aside these violent acts because they’re lazy. Brutal but true.
It their grown adults, then they’re criminals. It’s that simple. This behavior should have been left behind in the third grade.
In any case, the solution is vigilance, attention to detail, and communication with law enforcement. If you observe a criminal act as it happens, don’t confront the offenders. Get as detailed of a description as you can and contact the police.
Let’s reinforce kind acts of goodwill by protecting their efforts to keep Green Bay a wonderful place to call home.
