Countdown: S1E5 “Blurred Edges: Recap and Review

We got to have some fun this week. “Countdown” went “True Lies” on us with the team infiltrating a fancy party at the Belarusian consulate, and we got a badly needed villain origin story illustrating the rise of Volcheck.

Indeed, Volcheck went kinda legit after his brother died, prospering in food distribution in Belarus, and even married a beauty queen. But a nasty American corporate rival worked with the government to exploit him, and Volcheck had to kill that beauty queen to cover up his death and go underground, bringing him here for revenge.

Back in the present day, everyone got nice and dressed up for the gala, with Meachum and Oliveras going undercover as a couple to steal important information. With a big assist from Shepherd they were able to get the intel they needed to move the investigation forward.

Unfortunately, we learned that Volcheck is targeting the very federal building they’re working in for his next attack as the show went off the air.

Mostly all positive notes this week. Except one. I’ll get that negative one out of the way.

Love the Army mention. I did eight years myself, including a few as a non commissioned officer. NCOs typically don’t refer to themselves as officers. But the MOS and everything else was right, which is miles ahead of what we usually get from TV.

Violet Beane was giving me Jennifer Garner 2001 “Alias” vibes this week.

The Meachum decline is tough to watch, as it should be. I don’t know how they’ll resolve it without getting attached fans upset. I’m still sad when I see Eric Dane here.

Jessica Camacho doing some sharp acting again when Amber is asked if she’s using. Excellent non vocal acting.

I got a feeling next week could be big. Let’s see what happens.

Good outing. See you guys next time!
