Twisted Metal: S2 Sibling Storyline Is Working Well So Far

Television sibling stories are difficult to get right, and the formula isn’t necessarily evident. Take “Succession” which has enough depth for complete academic book of work, with the Roy clan’s complicated personal and business conflicts. Then take “Its Always Sunny” where Dee and Dennis were eating dog food last week.

Twisted Metal has a ways to go to catch both of those programs but I’m enjoying both sibling storylines. And there are two.

John Doe and Dollface is what we were promised in last season’s finale where Tiana Okoye was teased almost as a villain. But we learned early this season that she’s on our side and while we also expecting a delayed reunion, we’re already way past that. And the two are already out there getting into trouble. We’re still getting some forecasted incentives with John’s amnesia still making things cloudy but the dynamic is right on and working at the moment.

And then we’ve got Quiet and Mayhem, who aren’t biological but you would think they were with the back and forth chatter. Quiet of course had a connection with her brother and she’s allowing herself some connection during the driving lessons with her mouthy, younger ally.

Should we be worried? Possibly. The show could kill off one or even both of the characters. It would be some new dark territory for the show but this is Twisted Metal. Watch the video game cut scenes, where the material is more than capable of going to dark place.

So, while we’re all still on a Michelle Branch high from last week, be worried that it could all go wrong at any given moment.
