Fantasy Football: Patrick Mahomes Banged Up Receivers Cause For Concern After Week One
Patrick Mahomes owners will once again embark on a season where one of the best play callers of the era will have a lack of weapons to help him score points. Both on the field and on Fantasy Football boards.
Mahomes still had a good night Friday, despite the Chiefs falling to the Chargers 27-21.
His line was: 24 for 39, 258 yards, with one passing touchdown and one TD on the ground.
But Xavier Worthy, his number one target left the game injured after a collision with Travis Kelce. And Kelce, despite returning later in the game and catching a score, still didn’t look like his old self, while he mulls retirement, and plans a wedding to the most famous woman on the planet.
Here come the Eagles: for a Superbowl rematch next weekend at home. While the Dak Prescott was able to find some success against the champs, Mahomes may not have that CeeDee Lamb type of threat.
Then the Giants on the road and the Ravens at home: Patrick Mahomes should have much better matchups against New York the following week, and the Chiefs will have to prepare for a track meet against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
Remember this: Mahomes has found a way to win without weapons before. But we need him to score points. Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith Schuster are proven veterans and will at least serve as a net to keep him from bottoming out.
Bottom Line: Plan on starting him, but don’t neglect the other quarterback on your roster if they have a favorable matchup.
