Town Of Morgan Should Continue Fighting Solar Farm While Condemning Alleged Threats

You probably feel the same way. But I’ve never discovered how a corporation can force themselves on a community that doesn’t want them. Or to go further, why they would want to do business with an unwilling partner to begin with.

But here we are with a solar energy company that wants to do just that with the Town Of Morgan in Oconto County (story HERE).

And now that company is saying that they’ve been threatened on social media, and that those alleged threats are the reason they missed a public meeting on the project this week.

You should always take threats seriously, but all news from the story can’t identify the remarks and the company doesn’t want to share them.

It feels like a ploy from a politician that doesn’t want to go to a meeting where they know those in attendance will oppose what they stand for.

In this case, a project that is going over the heads of the citizens that will have to live with the consequences, while at the same time refusing to have a conversation about the subject.

Morgan residents should condemn any threats for violence, whether they should surface or simply evaporate into an odor of a company role playing as a victim. There are no excuses for anything of that nature.

But they shouldn’t stop fighting.

Because this solar farm doesn’t sound like a project being done with the best interests of a community in mind. It sounds like a corporate occupation holding residents hostage.

The Town Of Morgan deserves better.
