Meyer Dog Park Another Win For Green Bay Parks And Recreation
The City Of Green Bay has an excellent Parks and Recreation Department. Their leadership is innovative and approachable. Their workers on the ground are friendly and treat residents well. And they’re doing it all with fairly limited resources.
And this week, its our dogs that will get to enjoy the product of that hard work.
Meyer Dog Park near the East River trail opened this week, and in a community where some families love their four legged members more than their two legged ones, its a reason for celebration (story HERE).
I don’t know about you, but during happier times when I had a dog, I enjoyed the dog park more than he did. I know there are some of you that feel the same way. When I lost him, I felt sad that we wouldn’t share those experiences anymore.
You see, to your dog, the park is just that. It’s a park. They can run around unencumbered. And they’re given license to socialize and sniff anything they want. But to their humans, it’s also therapy. It’s all about quality of life.
As we head towards the holidays and the snow rolls in, we might not be spending as much time outdoors as we do when the weather is warmer. But, its reassuring to know that progress and growth is still occurring.
More good things are coming to our parks. Including the Leicht Park project which will take the city’s riverfront to another level in regards to being a place where we can come together and celebrate.
But the present belongs to the dogs and the city is better for it.
