ESPN: First Take crew debates Patriots QB controversy between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe
The First Take crew performed an autopsy on the New England Patriots loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football on Tuesday morning, and the views were different over the returning Mac Jones, and the role of his stand-in, Bailey Zappe, who has been winning in his absence.
Jones was 3-6 for 15 yards before being replaced by Bailey Zappe last night, but he too was also unable to lead the Patriots to victory against the Bears.
“When you disrupt what’s flowing for you, you’re messing stuff up. And I think they’re jeopardizing their season to be honest with you.” said Stephen A. Smith.
Jeff Saturday disagreed saying Jones was already going to be limited going into the game against Chicago “Calling Bailey Zappe the savior of this team is a disservice to the team. Mac Jones needs to learn to play in this offense. This Zappe experiment doesn’t make sense to me.”
The Patriots currently sit at 3-4 at the bottom of the AFC East, and have a pivotal game Sunday at the New York Jets, who are at 5-2.
