Abbott Elementary: What Gregory and Janine did to Maurice was wrong though
Abbott Elementary was back this week with a new episode. And it was a winner with Jacob debating with his students over what their “legacy mural” should be, and we also saw Barbara, Melissa, and Principal Ava gear up for their fight against Legendary schools and their campaign to turn Abbott into a charter school.
But let’s talk about that break up scene between Janine and Maurice with Gregory in tow.
Janine and Gregory were in the wrong. Clearly in the wrong.
I love these two characters, but good television shows can have great protagonists that make mistakes. Abbott Elementary is no different.
As you know, Janine would come clean with Maurice over the shared kiss with Gregory at the teacher conference, and much to my surprise (and possibly yours) Maurice was pretty understanding of the mistake and was willing to move forward with Janine anyways. That takes a lot of tolerance.
But Janine pushed forward with the break up, and that would too much of Maurice. He insisted that he be left alone with his babyback ribs.
Can you blame him?
If we’re being honest, Maurice has exceeded expectations. At first he seemed like a player that was going to take advantage of Janine but in the end it was Janine that cheated on him. Riveting TV.
There was also another moral predicament with the kids insisting on a legacy mural with some socks. If we’re being honest, Jacob was right too. Luckily they were able to reach an admirable and sweet solution that was fitting of this terrific television show.
Great episode. I’ll see you next time!
