Sadly because of the public nature of shopping malls, people love to find themselves quiet areas and do illegal things. I wish it wasn’t that way, but it is.

And one of those things are drugs.

At this point, I’ve seen almost every kind of illegal drug you can think of take in the mall. There have been people shooting heroin and taking pills. And of course, people love smoking weed.

Let’s start with weed, because its the one that’s the easiest to get your hands on and the drug you’ll probably get the most calls on.

People love smoking it in the bathrooms. Particularity the family bathrooms where they have a wide space and a locked door. Weed is easy to detect. You’re going to smell it. Check your policies and take care of it.

Then there are the heroin users. They will take it in the bathroom and that’s a problem because we’re talking about needles. We’re talking about the risks of an overdose and a bunch of other bad things. You’ve also got to keep your eyes on that too.

Finally, we also can’t forget about drug deals. These dealers are fearless. They’ll do it right in the middle of a store. But most likely it will be in the parking lot.

The key to prevention here is law enforcement. If you’re reporting enough drug activity, it will eventually activate the cops. This is because of the proximity to young people. Shopping centers are sadly at the beginning of the pipeline for drug use in certain areas.

Stay vigilant, and you’ll be able to stop the flow of drugs at your post. ‘
