Mall Cop Confessions: Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny’s bodyguard
For entertainment purposes only
There are a lot of surreal moments in the life of a mall cop. I can tell you that having to protect a mall Santa Claus and the mall Easter Bunny ranks pretty high. You might not think two beloved figures that are living representations of the holidays would need protection, but people don’t know how to behave in malls sometimes and you have to step in.
When it’s Easter or Christmas season in your mall, you’ve got a couple of extra duties.
One of those responsibilities is keeping people off of the Santa Village or Easter Bunny sets when they’re not there. People will jump over the ropes and start acting dumb. They’ll start moving around furniture and start rummaging through the drawers. You’ll have to chase them away.
When Santa and the Easter Bunny are working, you’ll want to make sure the line is moving well and people aren’t giving our guests a hard time. It’s been an internet prank to ask Santa for vulgar things on his lap. It’s a family environment, you can’t allow that to happen.
You’ll also have to provide crowd control for Santa and the Easter Bunny when they’re going to their dressing room. This is because everyone is going to stop them for selfies and those pictures can’t be free. You’ve got to be the bad guy. And yes, people will try to bully them when they’re out and about.
Is it sad. Absolutely. But that’s the way it is. Be a good mall cop and do everything you can to make sure your mall stays on the nice list, and whatever the Easter Bunny does to track behavior.
