Indeed, we get Sally Field, Rita Moreno, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda, as four longtime friends who are huge Tom Brady fans. Like, they’re fanatics who know their football stuff. When the chance to go see their favorite, Tom Brady, play in the Super Bowl arrives, they won’t miss it.

Let’s be real. This movie is not about Tom Brady. And football is in the backdrop of an important chapter of these character’s lives. This is about the four headliners. Sally Field is my favorite in the group, and she’s earned my eyeballs when she’s on screen. But the other three have similar fans who have watched them for decades, and that is who this movie is for. In that regard, the movie is a success. You’ll watch these four way out of their depth at the Super Bowl, living their life to the fullest.

This is a hard film to dislike. But we can’t pretend like the movie doesn’t play it safe. It plays it very safe. A lot of the craziness these four get into is fan service. But it’s that kind of fan service that many paid to see when this was in the theaters.

“80 For Brady” is a fine Saturday afternoon matinee to watch with your parents or grandparents. They’ll enjoy watching this excellent cast have fun. Hopefully you will too.
