Special Forces World’s Toughest Test: Cam Newton, Golden Tate latest NFL alumni to beef with staff
It’s hard to tell exactly what it is. Perhaps, its their athletic ability. It could be their physical presence. It might be unrestrainable charisma.
But the staff of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test really doesn’t like football players.
This was apparent last night, when both former MVP quarterback, Cam Newton, and Super Bowl Champion wide receiver, Golden Tate, were both on the wrong side of instructors during the season 3 premiere last night.
During the opening stunt, Cam Newton successfully jumped on to a moving helicopter from a speeding motor boat, in a stunt that looked terrific on television.
Staff told him to quiet down, when he celebrated his success.
Later, during a challenge, Golden Tate was failed because he pointed some finger guns during his task.
It’s the NFL. Or “No Fun League” all over again.
But this trend reaches back to last season. When Dez Bryant was literally left hanging by staff and then eliminated by them. It was absolute nonsense (story HERE).
But let’s try to look at this from a staff and showrunners perspective. It’s very possible that these two are overpowered. Cam is one of the best athletes to pick up a football. Love her to pieces, but my favorite, 52 year old, Trista Sutter, probably isn’t going to compete with him in challenges.
That’s where staff comes in. They’re the equalizers.
However, they’re going to have to invent new ways to challenge these athletes, because right now they’re just looking like a bunch of haters. And viewers will eventually get tired of that.
