On Call: Five things we need for season two of the Prime Video action series
All episodes of “On Call” season one on Prime Video are available for streaming, and if you’re looking for a unique police action program that enjoyably flies by in 30 minutes, then this show is right for you. I happily offer up my recommendation.
That being said, the season finale perfectly tees up season 2. And I hope Amazon will make that happen. We still have a lot of ground to cover with Harmon and Diaz.
Let’s talk about five things we need to see in season 2 of “On Call”:
You NEED a DRONE! Buy one on Amazon HERE and take to the skies!!!
Keeping the Harmon-Diaz big sister-little brother connection powerful: There are so few big sister-little brother combinations in television that work as well as this one. The pitch is just right, and it’s potent. I care about both of them, and their connection is powerful.
More creative cameras: The guys behind the camera deserve much credit for the police body cam shots that steal the show at times. That body cam shot of Diaz looking at blood on his hands? Incredible. We also saw some dash cams that looked good. Maybe we bring in some building surveillance cameras and helicopter shots.
Some more intriguing side quests: One of the most enjoyable things about “On Call” is that it can also fold into “Cops” territory. The exorcism? The gas station standoff? The hit dog? These were just fascinating side shows that didn’t tie into the main story but still contributed to the experience.
More special unit team ups: The drug work with Koy was cool. Maybe next season it’s SWAT, or bomb squad stuff. This will keep the material fresh.
Ten episodes: I get it. This stuff costs money. But 8 episodes flew by. Let’s hope Amazon gives us more space to float around next season.
