The Hunting Party: You’ll have to wait a little longer for episode 2
If you were a fan of The Hunting Party, the NBC action mystery starring Melissa Roxburgh, that premiered a couple of Sundays ago, you’re not alone. The show has promise. The problem is that it’s been weeks and we still haven’t gotten a second episode. And you won’t get one this Sunday night, as TV moves out of the way of the Grammy Awards.
Instead, you’ll have to wait until February 10th to watch The Hunting Party’s second episode at its regular 10pm est time slot. There showing the premiere again on the 3rd.
And that’s unfortunate, because the rollout of a show is just so important.
The story involves the prison break of a secret facility housing some of the world’s most dangerous criminals. Now, FBI profiler Bex (Becs?) Henderson (Roxburgh), has to round them all up. The premiere had to do with Richard Harris, a serial killer obsessed with revenge on woman after having an abusive mom. The ending had a gnarly twist that I’ll save for you just in case you haven’t watched it.
But the problem here has to do with the network trying to nail down an audience for these shows. It’s fine if they’re on a streamer and your viewers can go online and watch them whenever they want (this one is on Peacock by the way), but when you confine shows, or air episodes at intermittent times like NBC is doing with The Hunting Party, and like they did with the Quantum Leap reboot, it raises a lot of questions.
Will you watch The Hunting Party when it returns? Eventually? Let me know in the comments.
