Hooray for Green Bay Metro On Demand Improvements

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that I use public transportation almost everyday. For those of us fighting to make a living and grow, it’s our lifeline to earning and supporting ourselves.

Which is why I’m happy to see Green Bay Metro take steps to improve their On Demand service (story HERE).

Here is a short explanation of their expansion. And the art for this post is a diagram of the zones.

We’re consolidating the separate Daytime zones into one large service area, giving you more freedom and flexibility to ride to/from anywhere within the Daytime zone for work, school, appointments, and more.

No restrictions on where you can go in the Blue Daytime Zone. You’ll be able to ride to, from, and between any daytime zone or transfer points.

Continue to travel in the Daytime Zone Monday to Friday: 5:15 am – 11:30 pm, Saturday: 7:45 am – 7:45 pm.

No changes in All Zone. Continue to travel Monday to Friday: 6:45pm – 11:30pm, Saturday: 1:45pm – 7:45pm.

This is excellent news for those of us who may work in the tougher to get to corners of our community.

If you’ve never used the On Demand service, I recommend it. You download the GBM Metro app and it has a similar interface as rideshare, which means you’ll learn it very quickly. Plus, if you’re using this service during the All Zone period, its essentially Uber for $2. That’s not an exaggeration, if you don’t have to be at your destination at a hard, immediate time, this is a better bargain.

I’m happy to see public transportation in the area continue to evolve. Its the great equalizer which allows those with a strong work ethic to move up and improve their quality of life. When we make moves like these everyone in the community wins.
