Earlier this year, Meteorologist Sam Kuffel was let go from a Milwaukee television station for being critical of Elon Musk. Her dismissal was overwhelmingly unpopular, with objection from almost nine out of ten viewers (story HERE).

Now, she’s here in Green Bay (replacing someone else who was really good). And I’ve watched her broadcasts and on social media communicating her expertise on the weather, and her enjoyment of the Milwaukee Brewers. It’s very likely that to the non political, she’s making a very strong positive impression.

If she wants to stay, her current temporary home or another station in the Green Bay market should try to keep her here.

If you’re new to this blog, I spent over a decade as a political analyst in an even bigger market than Milwaukee. I was on Orlando television and radio a few times a week, and when I had my news site, I learned right next to the professionals. I know politics. I know the media. I’ve lived under the high standards of a contract.

The Kuffel dismissal was likely mandatory and it was definitely political. I lean conservative, and even I thought it was stupid. And if you’re appalled, you’re certainly allowed to feel that way, but I’ve heard talent in major markets say much worse. And they’re all still working. Some of them would feel right at home in the barracks with some of my old Army units. They’re people. Not robots. Not AI (at least not yet).

What I’m trying to say is that besides one controversy fueled by the political discourse in this country that keeps some of us from our own family members, we should allow a proven scientist whose already been successful on a higher stage the opportunity to provide us with the very important information that sets the pace for our daily lives.
