While I vigorously push back at a lot of retail security officer stereotypes, I will admit one thing.

We can appreciate a good flashlight.

These things are really useful. Yeah, in addition to checking areas in the dark after closing, they can also come in handy when it comes to helping people with their cars, and searching for missing items under furniture.

And they’ve got flashlights that can do all sorts of things now. They’re a lot of fun.

You’ve got your full size torch flashlight. I’m talking about the big ones that resemble a club. I still carry one of these in the car. They’re pretty big and difficult to lose. And I lose things all of the time.

Then we have the super bright smaller light with a belt clip: This is what most of us will carry because it goes right on the belt. Many of our companies may demand that we actually carry a light on our belts. Some of the belt clips may swivel, meaning you don’t even have to take the light out if you don’t want to.

There is the heavy duty light with handle these are lights you’ll see used a lot outdoors during severe weather such as heavy snow. They’re actually so bright that you want to keep it out of anyone’s eyes. But you’ll need them if your outside a lot.

Then of course we have the Lantern for your power outages. Let’s face it. If you don’t have light for hours at a time you’re going to have to make do and create some stationary light.

Flashlights have always been an important part of security work and that’s not changing anytime soon.
