The full trailer for season 3 of “The Bear” dropped yesterday, and while the restaurant is moving full steam ahead, it doesn’t at all seem like smooth sailing.

But then again, smooth sailing would make for a pretty boring show.

At the heart of all of the dysfunction is Carmy, who is trying to lead this team, but seems to be causing problems everywhere the trailer takes us.

“Non negotiables” is poor way to communicate with a crew like the one we’ve got here but Carmy is doing it anyway.

He’s still beefing with Richie. I don’t expect the bickering to go away but cousin has earned some currency for bailing out the soft open.

And there are still problems with Molly. I’m happy she’s back. Others aren’t. I’ll save that post for later.

But the evidence is there. Wherever this is trouble, there is Carmy and I’m trying to find some proof of redemption and I keep coming up empty. Now, could that change? Absolutely, but if it does, there isn’t any proof that is going to happen in the trailer.

What is evident is the chase for the “star”. Which is the trophy for Carmy. It’s possible we may have a Thanos situation where Carmy might actually get it but lose all of his friends in the process. Or the opposite, he chooses his friends over the glory, but again, this show continues to try to force us to strive for excellence in the face of all kinds of life challenges.
