ESPN: Malika Andrews gets a promotion after irking fans
Some NBA talent news out of ESPN this week. Malika Andrews has been promoted, and will be anchoring some editions of their NBA Countdown program. Countdown sets the table for the evening’s coverage, and is regularly hosted by Mike Greenberg (story HERE).
Last week, Malika Andrews upset some ESPN viewers with her take on the Ime Udoka scandal. Udoka has been suspended as head coach of the Boston Celtics just an offseason after leading the team to the finals, after violating team rules. Those violations may have involved other members of the Celtics organization.
Andrews then got in a tense verbal exchange with Stephen A. Smith on First Take, which resulted in her trending in the negative on Twitter. With some fans potentially being open to a return from former host, Rachel Nichol. Nichols a short time later announced she has signed a deal with Showtime Sports.
Would #NBA fans really accept switching back from Malika Andrews to Rachel Nichols on #ESPN programming? #FirstTake #basketball

Now, it appears that the Andrews push will continue. Let’s go to some reactions on social media.
ESPN out here uplifting mediocrity and delusional feminism to an already failing show. I’m sure it will go well. TNT remains the goat for NBA coverage.

Anyone who DOESN’T think this was a political diversity move is asleep at the wheel. It’s happening all over. People who are less qualified getting positions undeserved. And CEO willing to go down with the ship for it. Good luck. I stopped watching ESPN years ago

She sold us out

Bad decision. She will be bringing up everyone’s negative pass. Too much negativity towards men and not enough objective views. Too bias and not knowing when to be empathetic.
