The sports world last Jerry West on Wednesday. The literal NBA icon was 86 years old. While fans reflected on his accomplishments on the basketball court and in the front office, they also began talking about his character on “Winning Time” the HBO drama.

While his portrayal by Jason Clarke as a hard charging, short fused former player obsessed with winning was a fan favorite and one of the most popular characters on the show, West himself didn’t like the character and threatened legal action.
