Let’s appreciate Ming-Na Wen, who has been so good for so long and is still underrated
One of the most pleasant surprises of the second season of the Mandalorian was the continued integration of fan favorite, Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shane, Boba Fett’s trusted partner and fellow anti hero.
She crushed all of her scenes. Because of course she did.
Wen is an FTR favorite because of her consistently strong work in dozens of TV roles and voice acting parts (she’s the original Mulan) over a long and successful career.
But she was also Chun Li in the cult favorite Street Fighter movie with Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia in 1994.
And she just finished her run as Agent Melinda May on Agents of SHIELD which was on ABC for seven seasons. The show remains one of Marvel’s most underrated stories.
And even after all of these years. So is Wen’s work.
There is an irony in her being paired with the legendary bounty hunter in Star Wars. For decades, fans wanted to see more of Fett. An unheralded but fascinating character.
And in “The Book of Boba Fett” due out on Disney Plus in 2021, we’ll get both of them.
If it’s like Wen’s other work, we know it will be a winner. And will contribute to the legacy of yet another top tier franchise.
Hopefully, she’ll continue to build her fan base and get more recognition. It’s not often that people in this industry have the talent to be this good for so long.
And we’ll all be here for the next adventure of this terrific career.
