Grey’s Anatomy: With Ellen Pompeo stepping back, it might be time to end it
If you told me you believed Grey’s Anatomy was one of the best television dramas of the modern era, you wouldn’t get an argument from me.
The truth is ever since that epic Super Bowl episode so many years ago, the program has built one of the best television fan bases you could imagine.
While the program hasn’t been the same since Derek’s death, its still better than almost anything else on TV. Last season’s beach episodes even went back to right the wrongs of the show’s past.
But now, Ellen Pompeo is stepping back.
Can you have Grey’s Anatomy without Meredith Grey? We’re going to find out.
The truth is that it might be time to shut it down.
Hey. It’s 19 seasons. Less than 1% of shows will ever experience that.
And Ellen Pompeo is moving on to other stuff as well.
Why shouldn’t we?
Yeah, we could probably run with these characters for a few more seasons, but we’re seeing a gradual declining slope in the drama.
How much more trauma can we endure?
We should end it at 20 seasons.
When popular shows lose the main character, it tends to be the beginning of the end anyways. Michael Scott and “The Office” comes to mind. It was never the same after Steve Carrell left.
I guess we’ll just have to see.
But as we end, we should recognize that this show owes nothing to no one. For the most part, they’ve done right by fans, even if its been by constantly breaking our hearts.
You could say we’re going to miss the pain when its gone.
