Normally, the hours before the Super Bowl are a lost cause of filler and fluff, with only the Puppy Bowl and a Presidential interview making any noise before the biggest broadcast of the year.

But “You Are Looking Live” a retrospective on “The NFL Today” that aired on Sunday afternoon, made viewers head to social media to voice their appreciation of an era of sports television that many of us may not remember but would be surprised and better off if we discovered. The drama and repercussions are still felt today.
